- Only 4 simple ingredients you already have – To prepare these brownies you’ll only need 4 main simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen – 4 main ingredients – 2 bananas, cacao powder, honey, eggs, plus salt, and baking powder as the usual, basic ones to enhance the flavor, and help the brownies rise.
- Healthy – Refined sugar-free; dairy-free; flour-free – Yeaa, Banana Cocoa Powder Brownies don’t require any refined sugars, the sweetness of ripe bananas, cacao powder, and raw honey should be totally enough to get the sweet taste. They also don’t contain any dairy or flour!
Ingredients You Need
- 2 ripe bananas – the ripper the banana, the sweeter brownies!
- Cacao powder – You can use raw, organic cacao powder, but keep in mind that using organic cacao powder may be bitter in taste, but higher in nutritional content, so it is a healthier option. However, cocoa powder will also work well, and give that seemingly excluded extra sweetness, if you choose to go with the sweetened option. When I’m using organic cacao powder, I tend to add more honey to balance the sweetness.
- 2 eggs
- Honey – Without the need for any additional artificial sweeteners, honey will naturally provide and enhance the sweetness of the brownies. Preferably use raw, unsweetened honey.
- Salt (preferably sea salt or Himalayan) – Salt helps to balance out the sweetness and enhances the flavor of the ingredients.
- Baking powder – This helps the brownies to increase their volume and lighten the texture.
How To Make
To make these Banana Cocoa Powder Brownies you don’t need any special equipment or complicated steps. You’ll be amazed at how insanely easy, and quick they are to make!
Start by pre-heating the oven at 400F (200°C) – or 250 °C if you want to bake your brownies even faster. I did it the first time, and they were ready in around 10-12 minutes. If you, however, bake at 200°C it should take approximately 20-25 minutes.
The next step is whisking 2 eggs in a medium bowl, and mashing 2 ripe bananas with a fork on a plate.
Add mashed bananas in a bowl with whisked eggs, and stir it all well.
Add 40 grams of cacao powder, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 2 – to 3 teaspoons of raw honey. Stir it all together well and evenly until there are no lumps.
In a traditional small round baking mold, covered with parchment paper, add the brownie mixture, or if you’re using cupcake pans or mini cake pans – using a spoon add the mixture in holes.
If you prefer, you can add some chopped dark chocolate as the topping – make sure it is medium-largely chopped, so it doesn’t penetrate into the brownie mixture.
Place it in the oven, and bake for 20-25 minutes at 400F (200°C)
Pro tip: In order to estimate if the brownie is baked well enough, use the old trick with a toothpick. Just place a wooden toothpick close to the middle of the brownie, and then check the rest of it. The brownie is done if a toothpick inserted into it comes out clean.

How To Ripen Bananas Quicker?
The best way to naturally ripen bananas is to leave them in a warm place – in front of a sunny window. Also, you can place them inside a brown paper bag and close it tightly for 1-3 days.
Need Some Additional Taste And Decoration?
These Banana Cocoa Powder Brownies are in my opinion perfect as they already are, but if you prefer adding some extra ingredients for flavor and decoration, the excellent option is some ground or chopped nuts, grated dark chocolate, or even chopped fruits like blueberries, raspberries or blackberries on top of it. Make sure to add them after the brownie is baked.

Banana Cocoa Powder Brownies
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 eggs
- 40 grams cacao/cocoa powder (see notes)
- 2-3 tsp raw honey
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp sea salt/Himalayan salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). (When I'm in the hurry, I comfortably pre-heat the oven to 250 °C, then the brownies take around 10-12 minutes to bake)
- In a medium bowl, whisk 2 eggs. On a plate, mash two ripe bananas using a fork.
- Add mashed bananas in a bowl with whisked eggs, and stir it all well. Some small lumps are okay, but not large.
- Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of raw honey, 40 grams of cacao powder, and a teaspoon of baking powder. Mix everything well and completely until no big lumps remain.
- Pour the muffin mixture into a traditional small round baking mold that has been lined with parchment paper. Alternatively, if you're using cupcakes or tiny cake pans, fill the holes with the mixture using a spoon.
- If you prefer, you can add some chopped dark chocolate as the topping – make sure it is medium-largely chopped, so it doesn’t penetrate into the muffin mixture.
- Place it in the oven, and bake for approximately 20-25 minutes at 400F (200°C)
Notes
- You can use raw, organic cacao powder; however, bear in mind that while it may taste bitter, using organic cacao powder is better due to its increased nutritional value. If you decide to go with the sweetened version, cocoa powder will also work perfectly, and add that apparently omitted additional sweetness. To counterbalance the sweetness, I usually add more honey when using organic cacao powder.
